As vintage car and motorcycle fans and collectors we have always loved browsing the classifieds of our favorite magazines and newspapers looking for unexpected treasures and lost classics. But such pleasures are becoming harder to find.
So here you have it, the Octagon 'classifieds' section that hopefully will provide opportunities for sellers and buyers and, if we are lucky, even bring back some of the fun of browsing the 'old' classifieds.

That’s right – an MGC – not a B. This car came with the next generation Austin healey 3 litre straight 6 – and an aluminium hood. These are rare – especially the roadsters.
This car has undergone a meticulous 14 year (slow) restoration with many well engineered improvements. Parts wise, it is almost entirely complete (just needs a new soft top) – and the finish list of things done to have it on the road. A list of work and modifications done is also included.
-Body rust repaired and floors replaced.
-painted with Southern polyeurethanes primers and clears over ppg “Audi monsoon grey” paint.
– all new interior – black with red piping – seats apolstered by Dave at Phoenix in North Vancouver (using moss kits)
-Toyota brake capiler modification over slotted and cross drilled rotors
-rebuild 3 litre C series engine (progression from Austin Healey) with hardened valves and seats for unleaded (Hillary at All Power)
– Austin Healey mild street cam grind by Shadbolt
-computer controlled cooling system (electric fan and electric water pump)
-MGB – non servo / dual circuit master cylinder
-Full Stainless steel competition muffler
-Custom leather dash and center console (tastefully original – with added glove box)
– 15 inch mini lite wheels
– 2 hoods included – one stock, one with louvred
Underbody entirely “por15’d”
-Entirely new wiring harness
-2 inch HS8 carbs (not HS6 as stock)
-4spd with 2/3/4th over Drive
Left to complete:
Some final buffing of paint
Addition of chrome trim
Finalize electrical (90 percent done)
Fit interior panels, seats and top
Attach handbrake cable (incd)
Finish fuel system (one small pipe and filler neck)
Fill and bleed brake and clutch.
The car qualifies for the “collector modified” plates through ICBC.
I have built this car with full attention to detail and “quiet” modification
It is a drivers car, and should’ve a lovely machine when complete.
1975 TR6 British Racing Green. Super reliable and handles beautifully. I’ve owned the car for 4 years and it has never caused any problems. This is not a concours car but a great summer fun car. Only driven in dry conditions so no rust at all. Baby and marriage forces reluctant sale, owner relocating to Victoria. Valued at 12-15k by a Vancouver classic car shop, will sell for $10k.
This is a fantastic example of a 1980 Jaguar XJS. Interior 9/10, exterior 9/10. With a good cut polish it will be a perfect show car. This is an absolutely mint condition XJS. Has 3000$ rims, signed Enrico Nardi steering wheel. Brand new tires, alternator. New work just completed: totally redone rear trailing arm bushings and rear subframe mounts; air, water, alternator and drive belts all replaced new. I have detailed receipts outlining work performed. Original V12 engine in terrific shape, mounted to original 3 speed automatic. Starts and runs fantastic. New stereo put in last month, now has Bluetooth and phone mic set up. Car cover included. Car lowered an inch.
You absolutely will not find a better example.
The car has 86,000 miles.
About 4 years ago I stopped driving this MG: it was in very good physical and running condition. It has been sitting in my carport for a few years now and I finally realize that it belongs in a new home. The gas will need to be drained and probably a bit of a tune up and changing of various fluids are necessary. Currently, I don’t have the energy nor the time to do that. There are a few scratches on the paint job and on the windshield. I have a full set of photos showing the bodywork done on the car as well as several workshop manuals. Normally I would be asking $10,000 for this car but considering it is not now in running condition and we need the garage space, I would be happy with $4,500.
